Paper Title: Media and Capital
Key words: media; capital; integration
Abstract:
The present reality calls for the opening-up of information industry
in which media industry is included.
The media industry could be the last most profitable business in
China. This conclusion has been jumped at by analyzing the inner
changes and environment of the media, the huge potential and opportunities
of the Chinese media, and the many measure taken after China's entry
to the WTO. However, its development will eventually strike a balance
in the fierce rivalry between political and capital forces. The
discrepancy of the Chinese media with that of other countries is
not only reflected in its capital scale, but also in the chain of
values.
It is feasible to integrate media industry with capital, which has
become a reality. But many problems arise that cannot be ignored.
Good Preparation is needed prior to investment in the media, and
the investment must be long-term and in large-scale. Besides, personnel
training in terms of creativity must be accompanied with capital
input.
Investment may incur great risk, especially in China where the development
of cultural industry has just started, thus threatened by the impact
of world market and the imperfection of domestic market. Many other
factors must also be taken into account such as the risk involving
the rule of law, investment strength, market changes, business contracts
and personnel.
It needs a concerted effort to work out specific ways for the integration
media and capital.
